PRAYERS FOR A GREAT YEAR
Gail Oliver Cambridge | January 1, 2023
We all look forward to the blessings of a wonderful year but know that there may be bumps in the road. No matter what this year brings, let’s endeavor to keep God in your thoughts, love in our hearts, and a smile on our faces.
To inspire us today as we make a fresh start to the new year, I offer the following praise, prayer, and thanksgiving snippets, which we can repeat as we go about our day in the weeks and months ahead:
Father, I’m so grateful to be alive and well to see another year. This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.
You grace me with the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide me in all that I say and do. I will praise You with all my heart and glorify Your name forever.
I lift up my family and friends to You Lord and pray that You continue to bless us with good health and happiness. Let nothing be a barrier to our relationships.
May peace come to those places experiencing conflicts as You give individuals courage and strength to withstand whatever happens their way. Weeping may endure for a while but rejoicing eventually comes.
With any hurt, disappointment, or difficulty, Lord, I know You’re with me through the pain and fear will not consume me because You have not given me the spirit of fear, but that of power, love, and a sound mind.
I will rejoice in the Lord and not be anxious. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight.
Lord, I abandon my will to Yours, direct me on Your path and open doors to fulfill the purpose You have for me. May I be attuned to Your presence.
When I’m tempted and become negative, I ask Your forgiveness as I forgive those who offend me. May Your peace guard my heart and mind as You grant me wisdom, understanding, and patience.
I pray for Your protection on me, my family, and friends within our homes and when we’re away. I thank You for watching over us and Your omnipresence.
My soul finds rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Thank You Lord for blessing me and keeping me in Your care; Your promises are yes and amen.
I pray that You shine Your light in places of darkness, kindle cold hearts, cast out doubt, restore faith, and spread Your love. With Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone.
Father, today is a new day for me to get it right and I thank You for Your gifts of love and second chances. I will shout for joy and continue to worship and give You all the praise, glory, and honor for Your love endures forever.
I hope some of these words resonated with you. May this year be great beyond your wildest imagination!
